Canyon West Health and Rehabilitation Center First Facility in State to Receive AHCA Quality Award

The efforts of Canyon West Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly Cascade Rehabilitation & Care Center, are now receiving national recognition. Canyon West is a 2004 recipient of the American Health Care Association’s Quality Award.

There are 16,000 nursing homes in the country. Canyon West is one of 108 long-term care facilities in 36 states to earn the Quality Award this year. In addition, Canyon West is the first facility in Idaho to receive the Quality Award.

The AHCA Quality Award is designed to support continuous quality improvement efforts by promoting quality awareness and education and by recognizing quality achievements. Award recipients are chosen for making quality a priority in order to better serve their customers, their staff, and their communities.

The program also fosters networking among participating facilities by enabling them to share winning strategies and to communicate best practices. AHCA Quality Award applicants are evaluated based on criteria adopted from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

A ceremony for award recipients was conducted in October at the National AHCA Convention.
