Canyon West Health and Rehabilitation of Caldwell, Idaho is a long-term care facility with a Rehab unit. As a TEAM the staff works very hard to improve the quality of life for our long term care residents and our we do a great job of getting residents home that are appropriate.
The local radio station every year has a program for our service men around Valentines Day called “Operation Valentine." Homemade valentines are made and sent overseas to our soldiers by the thousands. Businesses, schools, assisted living and long term care facilities, individuals, whoever wants to, can make up valentines and send to the radio station. The radio station mentions the donations over the radio. Then they bundle them up and send the valentines to our solders. Many of the valentines are read and it is a such a wonder.
I mentioned this to our Activity Department and Rebecca Neibair and Lisa Robbins took the bull by the horns. They asked the residents if they would like to make Valentines for our soldiers. That was all it took! The usual activities were rescheduled and the next few days Valentines were made. Arthritic hands, aching backs, whatever their aliment, did not curtail the energy and compassion for our soldiers and this great country. Our seniors never cease to amaze me.
These Valentines were truly a labor of love. It was a great honor to deliver that big envelope of Valentines.
